Case Study: Intranet-Style Employee Education

The Event

A technology publishing company needed a solution to provide ongoing technical education for their employees.  The presentations required restricted access, reporting on who had been to the various presentations, and ease of access from various locations and while employees and stakeholders were traveling.  The solution needed controlled access, the ability to post new and updated programming, and a centralized home page showing the different programming that was available on the site.

The Challenge

Providing a consistent message to employees as new employees came on board, and keeping existing employees updated on new techniques, technologies and projects were difficult in a distributed environment.  The solution needed to provide a way to post the updates, notify employees, and create a searchable “portal” type entry point that allowed for employees to find the information needed.

In addition, streaming needed to be supported on different devices.  Quizzes and verified learning testing was considered and created however not required of employees (it was voluntary).

The Solution

Using referring domain validation and the use of specific email address domains when registering, the vConferenceOnline.com system was used and a portal page was created that allowed employees to browse presentations and company events.  In addition, the portal showed upcoming events and programming.

Individual registration for programming and the reporting on attendance based on that registration information was provided to the employer.  The system was a success, providing significant programming and education for the employees and a means for standardizing both the message and delivery of the message – from webinars to full virtual events for employees.
