Let us introduce you to some of the professionals we have lined up for October's
conference:

Rachel Appel - Rachel has been working as a mentor, instructor, software developer, architect and DBA for nearly 20 years. During her career, Rachel has worked with a variety of languages, technologies and systems and has contributed to projects of all sizes including large scale enterprise applications at some of the world's leading companies. Rachel is the Vice President of the .Net Valley user group, as well as a leader and regular speaker in the Philly.NET and Central Penn.NET user groups of Pennsylvania. She can also be found speaking at code camps, user groups, community events and conferences. Rachel's expertise lies within developing solutions that align business and technology using the Microsoft .NET family of products, particularly ASP.NET & SQL Server. She is also an ASP.NET MVP, ASPInsider and holds the Microsoft Certified Trainer, MCAD & MCSD certifications. She is also a member of the INETA speakers bureau.

Marc Beacom - Marc Beacom got started with SQL Server developing ETL solutions with DTS on SQL Server 2000. The last several years, he has been focusing on building data warehouse and business intelligence solutions in the retail and education sectors on SQL Server 2005 and 2008. Marc has gained extensive experience in the Microsoft BI Tool Stack, including Integration Services, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, SharePoint (WSS and MOSS) and ProClarity. Marc is an active member of the community and is currently President of the Denver SQL Server User Group and VP - Membership of the Colorado Springs SQL Server User Group. Marc is also a member and volunteer for PASS.

TJ Belt - Tjay Belt is an outdoorsman who enjoys riding dirtbikes, waterskiing/boating, playing racquetball and spending time with his family. When he can't be out playing, Tjay loves to tinker with databases. Tjay has been an IT professional for over a decade. Currently serving as a Senior Database Engineer with Cybersource in the Infrastructure Engineering group, TJay has progressed through several roles in his database career including developer, data guy, database developer, database analystand DBA. Prior to Cybersource, he worked at several software companies, working at internal customer sites in the United States and abroad. He has always gravitated to the database side of each job and excelled. TJay studied Computer Science at Brigham Young University and is a member and active volunteer of PASS.

Brendon Birdoes - Brendon Birdoes is a Principal Consultant in the Connected Systems practice at Neudesic with over eight years experience developing solutions on Microsoft technologies. Brendon specializes in building service-oriented solutions using Microsoft BizTalk Server and WCF using Agile methodologies, but has also developed and delivered smart-client and ASP.Net applications. Brendon is a Microsoft Certified Professional holding an MCTS in WCF. Brendon just wrapped up work at Microsoft where he worked on the team that delivered the BizTalk ESB Toolkit 2.0. His responsibilities included implementing and enhancing the core engine built on top of BizTalk Server 2009. He has also spoken at several events around the ESB Toolkit 2.0 including the Phoenix Connected Systems User Group and Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009 Launch event in Chicago and also delivered a presentation on Test Driven Development at
the Microsoft Team System Big Event in Phoenix. He is a frequent
contributor to the ESB Toolkit forums and maintains a blog focused on the ESB Toolkit, WCF and the .Net framework.

Shannon Bray - Shannon Bray is a Microsoft Certified Professional Developer and Microsoft Certified Trainer with nearly fourteen years experience in the field of Information Technologies. Mr. Bray currently serves as both a consultant and trainer with a specialization in ASP.NET, C#, and SharePoint 2007. He is the sponsorship coordinator for the Rocky Mountain SharePoint User Group and the President of the Colorado Springs SharePoint User Group. Shannon has been selected as an MCT Ambassador/Technical Learning Guide at Microsoft's Tech Ed for the past four years and has presented at Microsoft's TechReady 6 - 8 and TechED. He also holds MCTS certifications for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Donald Farmer - Donald Farmer has worked in the Microsoft Business Intelligence team for 6 years. He has worked on both the Analysis Services and Integration Services product teams. Donald is now Principal Program Manager for SQL Server Data Mining, working to build a seamless integration of predictive and exploratory analytics with the Microsoft business intelligence offering. Mr. Farmer is a popular speaker at international events for both business and technical audiences, with a wide range of interests including data integration, information quality, metadata intelligence, master data management and predictive analytics. He is the author of a number of books and articles. Prior to joining Microsoft, Donald worked not only in business intelligence but in fields as varied as medieval archaeology and fish-farming.

Rick Garibay - With over 10 years experience delivering solutions on the Microsoft platform in various industry sectors, Rick is a Principal Consultant and Practice Lead with the Connected Systems Development Practice at Neudesic. Rick focuses on streamlining business processes while enhancing the productivity of developers by combining modern, iterative software engineering methodologies with technologies such as Microsoft .NET, Windows Communication Foundation and BizTalk Server to deliver business value and drive revenue while reducing operational costs. Rick is an active speaker and member of the greater Phoenix .NET community and is the President and Co-Founder of the Phoenix Connected Systems User Group. Most recently, Rick delivered a presentation at the 2009 Microsoft SOA and Business Process Conference in Redmond, WA. Rick's recent publications include "Building Services for Deployment in Transiently Connected Networks with Windows Communication Foundation" for CoDe Magazine as well as "Programming the Microsoft Business Rules Framework" for CoDe Magazine and DevX. Rick has been recognized by Microsoft Corporation for his contributions to the .NET, SOA and Connected Systems space by being awarded the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional designation for Connected Systems. When not immersed in the work he loves, Rick enjoys spending time with his wife, Christie and two children, Sarah and Ricky.

Kevin Kline - Kevin Kline is the Technical Strategy Manager for SQL Server Solutions at Quest Software. A Microsoft SQL Server MVP since 2004, Kevin is a founding board member and past president of the international Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS). He has written or co-written several books including SQL in a Nutshell (O'Reilly & Associates), Pro SQL Server 2005 Database Design and Optimization (APress) and Database Benchmarking: Practical Methods for Oracle & SQL Server (Rampant). Kevin contributes to SQL Server Magazine and Database Trends & Applications and blogs at SQLBlog.com and SQLMag.com. Kevin is a top rated speaker at conferences worldwide such as Microsoft TechEd, the PASS Community Summit, Microsoft IT Forum, DevTeach, and SQL Connections, and has been active in the IT industry since 1986.

Brian Knight - Brian Knight, SQL Server MVP, MCSE, MCDBA, is the co-founder of Jumpstart TV and SQLServerCentral.com. Brian has written and co-written 7 technical books including recently: Professional SQL Server 2005 Administration and Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services. Brian has spoken at conferences like PASS, TechEd and Connections.

Thomas LaRock - Thomas LaRock is a seasoned IT professional with over a decade of technical and management experience. Currently serving as a database administration manager with ING Investment Management, Thomas has progressed through several roles at ING, including programmer, analyst, and DBA. Prior to ING, he worked at several software and consulting companies, working at customer sites in the United States and abroad. Thomas holds a MS degree in Mathematics from Washington State University and is a member of the Usability Professional's Association. Thomas is also a member of Quest's Association of SQL Server Experts, currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS), and is a SQL Server MVP

Ted Malone - Ted Malone is currently Product Strategy Architect for Configuresoft, Inc., a Microsoft Gold Certified ISV Partner. At Configuresoft, Ted is responsible for incorporating leading edge technology into the company’s flagship product line, Enterprise Configuration Manager. Ted is also responsible for the Configuration Intelligence Analytics product, which uses the entire business intelligence stack (SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services, Microsoft Office 2007, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft Office Performance Point Server 2007) from Microsoft to deliver leading-edge business intelligence for Information Technology managers and executives. Ted has been working with SQL Server Technologies since version 1.0 (Yes, there really was a SQL Server 1.0) and has worked as an Administrator, Developer, Trainer and Architect.

Peter Myers - Peter has 12 years of solid experience working in OLTP database design and development, DBA support and Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence with SQL Server. Specializing in developing custom data-focused applications and reporting solutions, he provides architecting, development, implementation and support services at all tiers of a multi-tier application.
He has a broad business background supported by a bachelor degree in applied economics, and he extends this with MCITP, MCSD, MCDBA, MCSE and MCT certifications. Currently, he provides mentoring and technical training internationally.
In April 2009, Peter was re-awarded Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional) for the third time.
Peter enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for Microsoft technologies by presenting at SQL Server user group meetings and technical events, including TechEd (US and Australia) and VSLive.

Paul Nielsen - Paul is a Microsoft SQL Server MVP and author of SQL Server 2008 Bible. Paul focuses on data architecture and the design and development of high-transaction OLTP databases. As an architect, Paul developed Nordic O/R DBMS (Microsoft Architecture Journal No. 8.) As a performance tuning and optimization consultant, Paul has helped scores of organizations improve their databases and he recently designed and coded a database that runs at 35K tps. As a speaker and trainer, Paul has guided thousands as they learn SQL Server technologies both in-person, through his writings, and through his video courses. Paul speaks at SQL Server user groups and most SQL Server conferences - PASS Summit, Microsoft Tech Ed Dev, SQL Open World (Denmark), and SQL Teach (Canada). Paul serves the SQL Server community on the PASS Board of Directors, and organizes the annual Colorado PASSCamp. Paul participated in the development of Microsoft Certification exams for SQL Server 2008.

Brent Ozar - Brent Ozar is a SQL Server Domain Expert based in the Houston area with Quest Software. Brent has a decade of broad IT experience, performing systems administration and project management before moving into database administration. In his current role, Brent specializes in performance tuning, disaster recovery and automating SQL Server management. Previously, Brent spent 2 years at Southern Wine & Spirits a Miami-based wine & spirits distributor. Brent has experience conducting training sessions, has written several technical articles, and blogs prolifically at www.brentozar.com

Vishal Shukla - Vishal has been behind the keyboards for over 18 years and mainly exploring Microsoft technologies from GWBasics to .net 4.0. Vishal works as a System Architect for the Palm Beach County. He has been actively involved with local user group communities. He has given various presentaions at code camps, Teched Tweener and various user group events.

Jason Strate - Jason Strate, Digineer Inc, has been a Database Architect for over ten years. His experiences include designing and implementing both OLAP and OLTP solutions involving clustering servers, database monitoring and tuning, analysis services, DTS/Integration Services, Reporting Services, and Notification Services. Jason is actively involved with the local PASS chapter (SQL Server User Group); he is currently serving on the Executive Board and has presented at monthly meetings. Recently, Jason contributed to Microsoft's published white paper "Empowering Enterprise Solutions with SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition and actively blogs about SQL Server and related technologies.

Craig Utley - Craig Utley is a Mentor with Solid Quality Mentors and a former Program Manager with the SQL Server Customer Advisory Team (SQLCAT) where he focused on Business Intelligence. Craig has been involved in the Microsoft BI space since the betas of SQL Server 7.0, when he helped write Microsoft's first data warehousing course. Since then he has consulted at a variety of businesses worldwide on their BI solutions as an independent consultant, a ProClarity consultant, and a member of SQLCAT. Thanks to his time on SQLCAT, Craig has seen some of the largest Microsoft data warehouses in the world and has worked directly with the Analysis Services development team. Craig is also a former MVP in C#, which he had to give up when he joined Microsoft in May 2006. Craig is a current member of the INETA Speaker's Bureau and maintains an interest in the .NET space. He is the author of over 35 articles and 3 books, the most recent of which is about PerformancePoint Server 2007.

Erik Veerman - Erik Veerman is a Mentor for Solid Quality Mentors focusing on training, mentoring and architecting solutions on the SQL Server BI platform. His industry recognition includes Microsoft's Worldwide BI Solution of the Year and SQL Server Magazine's Innovator Cup winner. Erik has designed dozens of BI solutions across a broad business spectrum-telecommunications, marketing, retail, commercial real estate, finance, supply chain, and information technology. His experience with high volume multi-terabyte environments and SQL Server 64-bit has enabled clients to scale their Microsoft-based BI solutions for optimal potential. As an expert in OLAP design, ETL processing, and dimensional modeling, Erik is a presenter, author and instructor. He led the ETL architecture and design for the first production implementation of Integration Services (SSIS) and helped drive the ETL standards and best practices for SSIS on Microsoft's SQL Server 2005 reference initiative, Project REAL. Erik is co-author of the book SSIS Professional and Expert SSIS.

Buck Woody - Buck Woody has been working with Information Technology since 1981. He has worked for the U.S. Air Force, at an IBM reseller as technical support, and for NASA as well as U.S. Space Command as an IT contractor. He has worked in most all IT positions from computer repair technician to system and database administrator, and from network technician to IT Manager. But it is the database field he always returns to. He has been a DBA and Database Developer on everything from an Oracle system running on a VAX to SQL Server and DB2 installations. Buck has a business degree and several industry certifications, including MCSE, MCDBA and Brainbench DBA. He is the author of over 300 SQL Server articles and four published SQL Server books; he is the site personality on InformIT.com's SQL web, and was the President of the Tampa SQL User's Group for 5 years. He was awarded the Microsoft MVP Award in 2006 for SQL Server, and started work in the SQL Server Team at Microsoft a year later. He has over twenty years extensive professional and practical experience in computer networks and network design. Experienced in design and management of business and technical systems, as well as marketing and training those systems to the user community and corporate officers.

Stephen Wynkoop - Stephen is a Microsoft SQL Server MVP and the founder of SSWUG.ORG. He writes a daily column and newsletter on the site and produces a weekly SQL Server video program on the site. Stephen is the author of more than 12 books translated into 7 languages around the world. Stephen has spoken at numerous technology conferences and reports regularly on the happenings in the technology world.
