Let us introduce you to some of the professionals we have lined up for April's conference:


 

Glenn Berry
Glenn Berry - Glenn works as a Database Architect at NewsGator Technologies in Denver, CO. He is a SQL Server MVP, and he has a whole collection of Microsoft certifications, including MCITP, MCDBA, MCSE, MCSD, MCAD, and MCTS, which proves that he likes to take tests. He is also an Adjunct Faculty member at University College - University of Denver, where has been teaching since 2000. He recently completed the Master Teacher Program at University College.

 

Denny Cherry
Denny Cherry - Denny Cherry has over a decade of experience managing SQL Server, including some of the largest in the world. Denny’s areas of technical expertise include system architecture, performance tuning, replication and troubleshooting. Denny uses these skills on a regular basis in his current role as a Sr. Database Administrator and Architect at Awareness Technologies. Denny currently holds several all the Microsoft Certifications related to SQL Server for versions 2000 through 2008 as well as being a Microsoft MVP. Denny is a longtime member of PASS and Quest Software’s Association of SQL Server Experts and has written numerous technical articles on SQL Server management and how SQL Server integrates with Enterprise Storage.

 

Mike Davis
Mike Davis - Mike Davis is a Senior BI consultant and Trainer at Pragmatic Works. He is an author on Knight's 24-Hour Trainer: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services. Mike is an experienced speaker and has presented at many events such as several SQL Server User Groups across the US, Code Camps, SQL Server Launches, and SQL Saturday events. Mike is an active member at his local user group (JSSUG) in Jacksonville, FL.

 

Donald Farmer
Donald Farmer - Donald Farmer has worked in the Microsoft Business Intelligence team for 6 years. He has worked on both the Analysis Services and Integration Services product teams. Donald is now Principal Program Manager for SQL Server Data Mining, working to build a seamless integration of predictive and exploratory analytics with the Microsoft business intelligence offering. Mr. Farmer is a popular speaker at international events for both business and technical audiences, with a wide range of interests including data integration, information quality, metadata intelligence, master data management and predictive analytics. He is the author of a number of books and articles. Prior to joining Microsoft, Donald worked not only in business intelligence but in fields as varied as medieval archaeology and fish-farming.

 

Daniel Galant
Daniel Galant - Daniel is an Associate and Senior Instructor with English, Bleeker & Associates/Mindsharp where for the past two years he has been helping people understand and implement SharePoint technologies across the enterprise. A Microsoft Certified Trainer, Daniel also holds certifications as a Microsoft Certified IT Professional - Enterprise Administrator, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (NT4, 2000, 2003), and MCTS certifications in – SharePoint, Office Communications Server and Active Directory. Daniel also holds the AIIM Information Organization and Access Specialist certification. Prior to joining Mindsharp, Daniel worked as an independent technology instructor and consultant for nearly 11 years, focusing on Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, Exchange and ISA Server. For his continued work helping answer questions in public forums, Daniel was twice awarded the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional award in Networking Infrastructure. He continues to maintain an active presence in the Microsoft public forums, focusing primarily on SharePoint these days and can also be found making the occasional speaking appearance at SharePoint Saturday events across the country. Recently he was ranked as the number 2 speaker at SharePoint Saturday, Indianapolis.

 

Jeffrey Garbus
Jeffrey Garbus - Jeff Garbus has over twenty years of expertise in architecture, tuning and administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases at hundreds of client sites. He has authored 17 books, developed advanced training workshops, and has published dozens of articles on the subject. Mr. Garbus is the CEO of Soaring Eagle Consulting, an organization that specializes in assisting businesses maximize database performance. His latest book Microsoft Transact-SQL, The Definitive Guide, will be on store shelves shortly.

 

Rick Garibay
Rick Garibay - With nearly 12 years experience delivering solutions on the Microsoft platform in various industry sectors, Rick is a developer, architect, speaker and author on distributed .NET technologies and is a Solutions Architect at Neudesic. Rick focuses on helping his clients streamline business processes while enhancing the productivity of it's developers by combining modern, iterative software engineering methodologies with the capabilities of the Microsoft Platform to help close the value gap. Rick specializes in cloud technologies such as Microsoft .NET, Windows Communication Foundation and Windows Azure to deliver business value and drive revenue while reducing operational costs. Rick is an active speaker, writer and passionate community advocate in the national .NET community. Rick is the President and Co-Founder of the Phoenix Connected Systems User Group. Recent presentations include the 2009 Microsoft SOA and Business Process Conference in Redmond, WA, and his numerous articles on .NET technology can be found in-print and online in publications such as CODE Magazine, DevX and his personal blog at http://rickgaribay.net. Rick is a proud Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) an has been awarded the MVP designation for Connected Systems for three years in a row.

 

Scott Golightly
Scott Golightly - Scott Golightly is currently an Enterprise Solution Strategist with Advaiya, Inc. Scott is also a Microsoft Regional Director. He has over 15 years experience helping clients to create solutions to business problems with various technologies. Scott is an experienced speaker and trainer. He has taught classes around the globe on various technical and business related topics. Scott has presented at numerous code camps, Tech Ed break out sessions, and Tech Ready. Scott has held many certifications including Certified PowerBuilder Developer, Certified Sybase Instructor, MCP, MCSD, and MCT. When he is not working with computers Scott enjoys spending time with his family and being in the outdoors.

 

Eric Harlan
Eric Harlan - In between searching the planet high and low for the best skiing conditions, deepest powder and crazy ‘steeps’, Eric Harlan spends most of his time in the technology field. Eric has been in the I.T. industry for ten years, and heavily involved with SharePoint for six years. Starting from a developer role, Eric has moved on to a more architectural role with a focus on configuration and server implementation Never forgetting his developer roots, he still jumps in when needed to pick up the slack on custom dev needs. As Principle Architect for Sogeti Baltimore Eric is the first on the ground to plan and initiate SharePoint engagements and guide them to fruition. Eric is involved with many volunteer organizations from the Maryland Elder technology Outreach, SharePoint Saturdays, and educational code camps to President and Co-Founder of the Baltimore SharePoint Users group. Eric also does many speaking events revolving around SharePoint. Topics range from SharePoint Development, InfoPath development tricks and gotcha’s to basic SharePoint sessions for the end user.

 

Ben Hoelting
Ben Hoelting - Ben Hoelting: Senior Software Developer, Colorado Technology Consultants, Inc. and C# MVP. Graduated from Colorado State University in 1997 with a BS in Computer Information Systems and a Minor in Computer Science. Ben joined the IT industry in 1996 as an intern and has worked with .NET since its inception back in 2002. Worked for the Gates Corporation (formally the Gates Rubber Company) from 2000 – 2005. He left Gates to pursue a consulting career. Currently he works for Colorado Technology Consultants, Inc. in Colorado Springs. His most recent projects include a Silverlight line of business application that uses the ADO.NET Entity Framework to access the backend data store. He also still supports and adds features to a Windows forms Smart Client that requires offline support, an ASP.NET tracking system for the floral industry and a Microsoft CRM customization using ASP.NET. Ben is also a MCP, certified in both CRM Customizations and .NET Framework Application Development. Finally, Ben is very involved in the local .NET community and is the leader of the South Colorado .NET User Group.

 

Rebecca Isserman
Rebecca Isserman - Becky Isserman has been a SharePoint Developer, since 2005 when she attended the Portal University with Levi, Ray, and Shoup in Springfield, IL. She is an Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) and a Microsoft Certified Application Developer (MCAD). She has been a web designer/developer since she was fifteen hand coding HTML 3.0 websites in NotePad. She enjoys working with SharePoint 2007, because she can perform the roles of administrator, developer, designer, and architect. She has presented at five code camps, two conferences, and three user groups in 2008. She currently lives in Olathe, Kansas working remotely for B&R Solutions. She lives with her two cats, Gambit and Rogue, plus her boyfriend, Johnny. Adam Jorgensen
Adam Jorgensen - Adam Jorgensen, MBA, MCDBA, MCITP has been delivering innovative SQL Server and Business Intelligence Solutions for over a decade. He is the President and Principal of Pragmatic Works, a Business Intelligence Software and Solutions firm in Jacksonville, FL. He is a featured speaker at conferences like PASS, SQL Connections, SQL Saturday, and Code Camps. Adam is also very involved in the community as a co-founder of BIDeveloperNetwork.com, a featured author on many other community sites, and a regular contributor to SQLPASS User Groups and other organizations. He can usually be spotted at industry events, Code Camps, and SQL Saturdays.

 

Kathi Kellenberger
Kathi Kellenberger - Kathi Kellenberger, SQL Server MVP, is a database administrator for Bryan Cave LLP in St. Louis, MO. She is author of "Beginning T-SQL 2008" (Apress 2009) and co-author of "Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services" (Wrox 2006). Kathi is a frequent speaker and teaches the occasional SQL Server class.

 

Kevin Kline
Kevin Kline - Kevin Kline is the technical strategy manager for SQL Server Solutions at Quest Software. A Microsoft SQL Server MVP since 2004, Kevin is a founding board member and past president of the international Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS). He has authored many books, including "SQL in a Nutshell" (O’Reilly & Associates); "Pro SQL Server 2008 Relational Database Design and Implementation"; “SQL Server MVP Deep Dives” (Manning); and "Database Benchmarking: Practical Methods for Oracle & SQL Server" (Rampant). He is a top-rated speaker at such worldwide conferences as Microsoft TechEd, the Best Practice Conference, the PASS Community Summit, and DevConnections.

Brian Knight - Brian Knight, SQL Server MVP, MCSE, MCDBA, is the co-founder of Jumpstart TV and SQLServerCentral.com. Brian has written and co-written 7 technical books including recently: Professional SQL Server 2005 Administration and Professional SQL Server 2005 Integration Services. Brian has spoken at conferences like PASS, TechEd and Connections.

 

Devin  Knight
Devin  Knight - Devin (MCTS) is a BI consultant at Pragmatic Works Consulting. Previously, he has tech edited the book Professional Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services and was an author in the book Knight's 24-Hour Trainer: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Integration Services. Devin has spoken at past conferences like PASS and at several SQL Saturday events. He is a contributing member to the Business Intelligence Special Interest Group (SIG) for PASS as a leader in the SSIS Focus Group. Making his home in Jacksonville, FL, Devin helps run his local users’ group (JSSUG) as a Vice President.

 

Ted Malone
Ted Malone - Donald Farmer has worked in the Microsoft Business Intelligence team for 9 years, working on several teams and technologies in that time. Mr. Farmer is a popular speaker at international events for both business and technical audiences, with a wide range of interests including data integration, information quality, metadata intelligence, master data management and predictive analytics. He is a Guest Professor at the College of Software and Information Science, Southwestern University at Chongqing, China and is the author of a number of books and articles. Prior to joining Microsoft, Donald worked not only in Business Intelligence but in fields as varied as medieval archaeology and fish-farming

 

Paul Nielsen
Paul Nielsen - Paul is a Microsoft SQL Server MVP and author of SQL Server 2008 Bible. Paul focuses on data architecture and the design and development of high-transaction OLTP databases. As an architect, Paul developed Nordic O/R DBMS (Microsoft Architecture Journal No. 8.) As a performance tuning and optimization consultant, Paul has helped scores of organizations improve their databases and he recently designed and coded a database that runs at 35K tps. As a speaker and trainer, Paul has guided thousands as they learn SQL Server technologies both in-person, through his writings, and through his video courses. Paul speaks at SQL Server user groups and most SQL Server conferences - PASS Summit, Microsoft Tech Ed Dev, SQL Open World (Denmark), and SQL Teach (Canada). Paul serves the SQL Server community on the PASS Board of Directors, and organizes the annual Colorado PASSCamp. Paul participated in the development of Microsoft Certification exams for SQL Server 2008.

 

Tom Roush
Tom Roush - Tom is a master storyteller, known to translate Geek into plain English in a single bound. His wry sense of humor, life experiences and vivid descriptions are skillfully combined with his expertise as a database administrator to have you understanding SQL in ways you never thought you would. Tom’s explanations of why to do something are insightful, why *not* to do something enlightening, and the stories behind them, both technical and non-technical, will leave you laughing to the point you forget you’re learning something. Tom’s been an IT professional for the last 16 years and works as a DBA at Avanade, in Seattle.

 

Jason Strate
Jason Strate - Jason Strate, Digineer Inc, has been a Database Architect for over ten years. His experiences include designing and implementing both OLAP and OLTP solutions involving clustering servers, database monitoring and tuning, analysis services, DTS/Integration Services, Reporting Services, and Notification Services. Jason is actively involved with the local PASS chapter (SQL Server User Group); he is currently serving on the Executive Board and has presented at monthly meetings. Recently, Jason contributed to Microsoft's published white paper "Empowering Enterprise Solutions with SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition and actively blogs about SQL Server and related technologies.

 

Craig Utley
Craig Utley - Craig Utley is a Mentor with Solid Quality Mentors and a former Program Manager with the SQL Server Customer Advisory Team (SQLCAT) where he focused on Business Intelligence. Craig has been involved in the Microsoft BI space since the betas of SQL Server 7.0, when he helped write Microsoft's first data warehousing course. Since then he has consulted at a variety of businesses worldwide on their BI solutions as an independent consultant, a ProClarity consultant, and a member of SQLCAT. Thanks to his time on SQLCAT, Craig has seen some of the largest Microsoft data warehouses in the world and has worked directly with the Analysis Services development team. Craig is also a former MVP in C#, which he had to give up when he joined Microsoft in May 2006. Craig is a current member of the INETA Speaker's Bureau and maintains an interest in the .NET space. He is the author of over 35 articles and 3 books, the most recent of which is about PerformancePoint Server 2007.
