Agile BI: Dashboards and Reports Quicker and Easier Than The Microsoft BI Patchwork

Many SQL developers want to create richer, more advanced data-driven applications, but they need to go beyond the limitations of SSRS, Excel, or writing custom queries.
Microsoft is often the default choice for a dashboards and reporting solution. However, many developers have found that stitching together Microsoft's patchwork of SharePoint, SQL Server, SSAS, MSRS, and MS Office creates administrative headaches and requires stime spent integrating and writing custom code.

  • Why choosing Microsoft is more like building an app from scratch vs. a structured, out-of-the-box solution
  • Microsoft BI challenges, particularly for flexibility and rapid turn-around
  • Creating advanced interactive dashboards and analytics without extensive programming
  • Building fully integrated and sophisticated applications by including workflow, conditional logic, and write backs, report scheduling, alerts, and email
