IT Management Considerations When Migrating to the Cloud

IT administrators are facing increasing pressure to move services to the cloud. In some cases there are significant advantages, and in others there aren’t. Whenever making this decision and after your move, you must ensure that your ability to communicate with the cloud is not compromised. There are many things administrators must manage and plan for when considering and managing this move including:

  • Monitoring Internet bandwidth
  • Monitoring quality of service to cloud services
  • Measuring the availability of cloud services
  • Accommodating dynamic end user supplied devices (e.g. iPad’s, iPhones, etc.)
  • Provisioning end user access to cloud services
  • Managing security and auditing across on-premise and cloud platforms
