PHP on IBM i - What you need to get started

If you are planning to develop web applications on the IBM i, PHP should be at the top of your list of technologies to use. With PHP you can create fast and reliable web applications that run natively on IBM i.

As with any technology it’s important to get started in the right direction. You need to know what’s required, which tools will save you time and how can you integrate your existing RPG business logic to the web.

In the first half of this session, Zend’s Mike Pavlak will help you get started with PHP on the IBM i by discussing:

  • The PHP stack included with the IBM i
  • How to leverage RPG business logic with the new Open Source toolkit
  • Which edition of Zend Server is right for you
  • IDEs that speed up development

In the second half of this session, Marcel Sarrasin, BCD's Product Manager, will show you why WebSmart PHP with Zend Server is the fastest way for IBM i programmers to develop PHP web applications on the IBM i or other platforms. You’ll see a live demo of the WebSmart PHP templates that create the starting PHP, HTML and CSS for you.
