James P Milite, MD

Dr. Milite was a summa cum laude graduate from Fordham University in 1986, earning a BS in Chemistry. He obtained his MD from NYU Langone School of Medicine in 1990 then completed his residency in Ophthalmology in 1994 at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary(NYEEI). Having been stimulated by several important mentors during his eye training, he went on to complete fellowships in Eye Pathology at NY Eye and Ear Infirmary with Steven McCormick MD and Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with Richard Lisman MD and Robert Della Rocca MD. His training in oculoplastics was in one of the fellowships in that discipline sanctioned by the Americann Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery(ASOPRS). He has been part of the teaching faculty at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary since finishing his training; lecturing, teaching in the pathology lab and staffing surgical cases with residents and fellows. He also spent 15 years as part of that institution’s Eye Trauma Service. Since 2001, Dr Milite has been a teaching preceptor in an oculoplastic fellowship sanctioned by the ASOPRS based out of NYEEI and NYU Medical Center.

He is a fellow of both the American Academy of Ophthamology and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). He has participated on several missions as a surgeon with Volunteer Health Program, a group of physicians affiliated with Creighton University who travel to underserved communities in the third world.
