Associate Professor Rebecca Hickson

Associate Professor in Animal Breeding and Genetics, Massey University
Rebecca is lead researcher for the B+LNZ Genetics Dairy-Beef Progeny Test. She completed her PhD on dystocia in beef heifers at Massey University in 2009. She also has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Animal Science and Mathematics and a Bachelor of Business in Finance. Rebecca grew up on a sheep and beef farm near Gisborne and has maintained a strong interest in beef production, particularly breeding cows. Her current research interests include beef cow efficiency, making the best use of dairy beef opportunities and Theileria orientalis (ikeda) impacts in beef herds.
