Sumit Dhawan

Sumit Dhawan is Senior Vice President and General Manager of VMware’s End-User Computing (EUC) desktop business. He leads product development, product management, GTM strategy for VMware’s complete Desktop Cloud Services portfolio (Horizon), Application Lifecycle Management solutions (App Volumes), and integrated solutions strategy to deliver the Digital Workspace (Workspace ONE). In just two years at VMware, he helped grow the End-User Computing business >$1B in revenue, the Desktop product portfolio being the most significant contributor to that growth. He is leading the biggest strategic shift in the EUC technology strategy, from delivering traditional on-premises to desktop and applications cloud services solutions. He is also overseeing the integration of EUC’s Desktop, Mobile, Identity, and Productivity Application portfolios into the industry’s first consumer simple, enterprise secure Digital Workspace solution, Workspace ONE. His leadership has led VMware to leapfrog its competitors in a number of industry analyst reports, such as Gartner and IDC.

Prior to his current role, he was Group Vice President and General Manager of mobile products at Citrix. He drove Citrix’s entry into the mobile management market, including the acquisition of Zenprise. During nearly 16 years at Citrix, Dhawan worked in several functional areas including product management, engineering, product marketing, sales, and corporate development for various emerging and established products and businesses.

Dhawan holds degrees in both business and science, with a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota. Dhawan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). He is an avid blogger and spokesperson on how transformative technology drives major strategic shifts for business, helping drive the industry conversation around how the Digital Workspace is driving economic disruption.
